8/23 Drew Horner: Uncoiled. Calm before the Busy weekend

photo 1We had a bad week last week.  We didn’t win anything.  Right now, we have had a few days off, and we start back up tomorrow for the rodeos.  Got a big weekend ahead of us and a lot of chances to win something.  These past few days off have been good.  Buddy went home to see his wife and I stayed in Eagle Idaho with a friend of mine name Kyle Beaver and his family.  He has a great family and has been extremely welcoming to us.  My girlfriend flew out for a couple days, which was awesome! I was so excited to get to see her! It was a last minute idea for her to come out so it was kind of unexpected.

Getting to have a few days off during the busiest time of year is always a good thing for us.  Buddy really was missing his wife, and I just needed to keep refocusing myself.  I got to practice and keep my horse and myself sharp, all the while getting to keep myself in line with my priorities.  Typically, during our slow days out here, Buddy and I will find a local coffee shop and go read and study there in the mornings.  This is just a little something we like to do while we are out here to keep us headed on the right track in life.  We are looking forward to this weekend.  We got five rodeos this weekend.  First one is on Thursday at Bremerton, Washington.  Then we fly to Pueblo, Colorado for Friday.  On Saturday, we are flying back to Kennewick, Washington, then on Sunday morning, we fly right back down to San Juan Capastrana, California and Norco, California.  This is a hectic weekend for us, but we are making it work.  We got to have two rigs going this weekend.  We are sending my rig down to Pueblo, Colorado and the two rodeos in California.  Buddy and I are hitching rides to Bremerton and Kennewick with some friends of ours, Ryan Powell and Bobby Mote.  We are excited to hopefully get back on track this weekend and start to win a little bit more to clinch our spot at the finals this year.

It’s always good to have good friends out there on the road.  Places where we can stay and call home during our off days, like Kyle and his family, and then also having rodeo friends that you can count on to get you through the crazy schedule, like Ryan and Bobby, is a must while on the road.  Thanks for reading! Keep in touch with me on my Facebook Fan Page and you can follow me on twitter for the little updates.  Hope ya’ll are doing well and I’ll be talking to ya’ll later.
