Stay With Us: Featuring Ashley & Tyler Ritchey0
Escaping to warmer weather, Tyler and Ashley Ritchie of Saskatchewan, Canada, made the lengthy 30 hour drive with four horses to Texas. The young couple was married August 10, 2013 in Kindersley, Saskatchewan with only one honeymoon destination in mind, Decatur, Texas.
After thorough research on NRS’s facilities and clinics, the Ritchie’s made the decision to book their month long stay of roping and riding. Throughout the duration of their stay, Ashley attended both the Level 1 Team Roping Clinic as well as joining her husband Tyler at the Level 2 Team Roping Clinic the following week. After spending time at NRS, Ashley has given her barrel horse a rest and has been committed to roping. She received the Top Hand buckle in the Level 2 Clinic for her immense improvement. She plans to use the skills she acquired during the four week stay here at NRS in her future roping career.
“Krece Harris is an amazing horseman; he truly separates this clinic from any other. We highly recommend the NRS clinics to anyone and everyone. They are worth every penny,” the couple said. When asked about a highlight of their trip, Tyler’s response was “All of it! Just being here in general; from the facility and the great cattle and lease horses.”
When the Ritchie’s are not roping or working colts in their six month riding season, they take part in the sport of curling. Curling is a sport in which four players slide stones across a sheet of ice towards a target area which is segmented into four circular rings. Even though curling, family and friends will be missed, the Ritchie’s ultimate goal is to eventually move to the great state of Texas. Overall, both were more than satisfied with their decision to spend their first vacation as a married couple in Decatur, Texas, and we are more than honored they chose to stay with us. It was a pleasure getting to know both of them, and we wish them the best of luck in their journey together and roping careers.
