9/13 Drew Horner: Uncoiled. Pendleton Short

0

The end of the season is soon. It’s been fun this year. We are here in Pendleton, Oregon waiting for the short round on Saturday. I’ll let you know how we have done so far in a bit, but right now, here’s what the next week looks like for us.

We rope in the short round on Saturday here in Pendleton. After the short round, we are driving 30 hours back home for few days. Buddy’s wife is picking him up in Kansas on Sunday afternoon, and then I am finishing the last 6 hours back to my home, Texas. We have a few days off at home where we can practice and get ready for the next few rodeos we have scheduled. On Wednesday, we have the Champions Challenge rodeo in Amarillo, Texas. Thursday morning we are going to be at Amarillo Texas for the regular rodeo, and on Thursday night, we drive across Texas to Texarkana, Arkansas for their rodeo. From there, we drive back across Texas and into New Mexico for the rodeo in Albuquerque on Friday night. Finally, we head back home Saturday morning. We are trying to get as many rodeos in before the last weekend of September so we can make sure we qualify for the last tour finale in Omaha, Nebraska. We didn’t get our schedule exactly how we wanted it for that week, but it worked out, because now I get to go home to a good friend of mines wedding on Saturday night. I am excited about getting to go there because I did not think I was going to get to go.

Currently, we are in Pendleton, Oregon. The format is two rounds with a short round taking the top 12 contestants from the first two rounds back to the short round. Right now we are 4th callback with 12 teams left to go. I think that out of those 12 teams left, there are only 2 teams that are clean on their first one, so the worst callback we could have is 6th. We are pumped about the short round here. This is a great rodeo. It is a good chance for us to win a few more thousand to keep us inside the top 10, and more importantly for right now, the top 12 which gets us qualified for the last tour finale in Omaha, Nebraska at the end of September. Looking forward to Saturday.

Well… I got to get going, we got a few chores we need to do today, got an interview with Rodeo Chat Radio @rodeochat, and going to go watch the team roping today to see where we end up for tomorrow! Thanks for reading again! Ill let ya know how it goes here in Pendleton tomorrow after the short round. DH
