My Focus is on My GOALS

Looking at the positive in the outcomes of my career is an art. I have always been a positive thinker. I do struggle with negative thoughts every now and then, but the overall aspect of what I am trying to reach has always been positive. Our past week is a perfect example of keeping the positive in perspective.
We first went to Mercedes, Texas for the rodeo their. We roped in the slack on Thursday morning. We made an ok run where we were 5.0. That run helped us place and we ended up wining a little over $1000 there. That money counts for us in the PRCA standings, which in turn is our main focus, making the NFR. The Strait was next on our list. I felt really good about that roping this year. I have been roping well and consistent all year, so I had some confidence going into the Rose Palace. All of that confidence didn’t pay off though… I did not even make it back to Saturday with any of my partners. BUMMER! I broke a barrier for Trey Johnson, Jordan Olson and I were to long on our first one, and I missed for Buddy. That is not good roping… Here at Houston, our bad roping has continued. I missed the first one and Buddy got a leg last night which put us out of the money. We have a slight chance tonight to progress but we HAVE to win first. Not only do we have to win first, but we have to be faster than two other teams on two, and one of them has to miss tonight to give us a chance to beat them on two head. We will hopefully have an idea of what we need to do when we back in the box tonight. Gotta win! I love pressure situations.

Back to my main point where I started this blog, looking at the positive. The best thing about this week for us is that the money we won counted towards our standings, which counts towards qualifying for the NFR at the end of the season. That is our main focus. Thats the positive perspective. Ya, it’s not fun losing, and ya, the events that we have missed at are BIG, BIG pay days, but our main goal is qualifying for a second NFR. Go follow me on Twitter. I have been using that A LOT more than the other resources to connect. Go check it out! DH
